It is best to use a siliceous stone such as granite on your kitchen countertops or similarly used surface because of its strength, density and resistance to abrasion and heat. Engineered stone likewise is an excellent option, depending upon the look you are going for, as it is particularly hard and also non-porous. According to the Marble Institute of America, granite has been tested and found to be superior to other surfaces when it comes to resistance to bacteria from food. HOW DO I REMOVE A STAIN?

Natural Stones are porous materials in nature. However, with immediate blotting then washing of a stain it should be eliminated. You want to avoid wiping the stain as it can seep into the stone. Once done blotting, wash the area with plain water and mild soap then dry the area thoroughly, repeating if necessary.

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO CARE FOR MY STONE?

Proper care for your stone is very important if you want your stone to remain in its original condition over time. We would suggest the use of a good impregnating sealer to coat the stone. Stone sealers generally fall into one of two categories: hydrophobic or oilophobic. Hydrophobic sealants repel water and water-based chemicals such as acidic foods like juices, teas, and vinegars. WHICH CLEANING SUPPLIES SHOULD I USE TO CLEAN MY STONE?

For most natural stone, it is best to clean with either a mild soap and warm water or a non-acidic, non-abrasive cleaning solution and warm water.
